Rupert Reed KC is a Commercial barrister and arbitrator in Serle Court Chambers with a substantial litigation and arbitration practice in London, Dubai and the wider Middle East. He was recently successful at trial in the long-running High Court litigation in Asturion v. Princess Aljawharah al Ibrahim [2019] EWHC 274 (Ch); [2020] EWCA Civ 32; [2023] EWHC 3305 (Ch).
He was called to the English Bar in 1996, appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of Treasury Counsel in 2000, registered as an Advocate before the DIFC Courts in 2009, and appointed as Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) back in 2014. He has been a leading practitioner in the DIFC Courts for over 14 years and co-edits and writes the leading text on DIFC law, the DIFC Courts Practice, very shortly to go into its second edition.
He is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of Arabic. He has a strong interest in both Arab Civil Law and Shari’a, and has written on the application of Shari’a principles in English Law, with particular reference to Banking and Financial Services.
