Saudi Arabia joins the Convention on International Sale of Goods – Impact on the Middle East

Saudi Arabia joined the Convention on International Sale of Goods (CISG) on 3 August 2023. CISG will apply in Saudi Arabia starting from 1 September 2024. For international sale of goods contracts, the CISG will largely replace the applicability of the Saudi Civil Transactions Act. The aim of the symposium is to discuss the application of CISG in Saudi Arabia based on the international and comparative experience and its compliance with Shariah. Saudi Arabia joined only Part I and II of the CISG, while leaving the ratification of Part III for further review. The discussion will evolve around the possibility to apply Part III in Sadui Arabia and the reasons why this part still was not ratified. The conference gathers leading international experts to discuss the application of the CISG in line with Shariah and international standards.
